This Fall 05:04
Last night I dreamt of you again Last night I dreamt of you again And you were sleeping by my side You were sleeping by side Last night I dreamt of her again Last night I dreamt of her again And she was sleeping by your side She was sleeping by your side We are green but not with envy We are tall you’ll see We are tall but without glory We’re still green you see I cannot find a place in my mind I cannot find a place in my mind That’s deep enough but without feeling Deep enough I’m tired of feeling I cannot risk being too modest I cannot risk being too modest For we are young and full of feeling We are young and crave this feeling And where do we go from here Where do we go from here? This Fall We’re Tall We’re Far From Fall

Augury 03:22
Restless rock you shall turn into sand Your name breaking up into pieces on my hand You sailed to me and I waited on the beach Your boat was a whale but a man did I see breach What noise will it make in the universe When we slip away together My teal colored dress wont stay on very long After we eat our lunch outside on the lawn We’ll take a bath and pretend that it’s the sea We’ll swim down the drain I’ll hold your hand and you’ll hold me What noise will it make in the universe When we slip away together The world wants us to Listen to… The world wants us to Listen to… Augury

I wish I were a blind bee keeper so that I could see the world for what it is. I wish you were a lonely herder so that we could spend our days together. Can’t swim, can’t float, can’t dream, can’t gloat. Can’t swim, can’t float, can’t dream, can’t gloat but I will follow you until my heart finds home. Seattle Bound. And you must trust in me, in us, that home’s around. Seattle Bound. Stormy weather and long days of never-ending talks and falling airplanes. I remember that one year we spent together and the things we said we’d save. Now I’m lost in Idaho and you’re all alone at home. Wishing someone, somewhere would step up! Come on! Let’s go! Can’t swim, can’t float, can’t dream, can’t gloat. Can’t swim, can’t float, can’t dream, can’t gloat but I will follow you until my heart finds home. Seattle Bound. And you must trust in me, in us, that home’s around. Seattle Bound.

Autumn of this year left everyone displaced. The first wintry blanket, the first lit fireplace. One runway, 12 airplanes, 47 delays. Mother asked if you loved me and I hesitated. You both have the red coat that I want. They both got chromosomes that I got. November, December, I forgot your birthday. When I asked if you're worried, you just looked away. Oh, everything used to be easy. Now it's so damn hard. And I tried everything that I knew. Everything that I knew how to do. Winter of this year showed everyone the way. We all held each other as the sky turned grey. Ten bottles, one embrace, oh-so-many loud games. You forgot to be happy, but I learned to play. Your heart is cold my fingers are warm. Their lips are smilin' your door is closed. This New Year, This New York, this concrete home. I claimed the roof as my castle, but you never showed. Oh, everything used to be easy. Now it's so damn hard. And I tried everything that I knew. Everything that I knew how to do.

Two Seasons 03:51
I’ve been following, I’ve been following you this summer, you this summer and. You’ve been tracking me, you’ve been tracking me all this summer, all this summer. You said: “Whales no longer sleep, for the sounds of our seas are too loud for dreams.” We poison all we find in so little time, in so little time, in so little time, in so little time. I’ve been waiting for, I’ve been waiting for you since winter, you since winter but you were ready for, you were ready for me last winter, when you whispered: “Whales no longer sleep, for the sounds of our seas are too loud of dreams.” We poison all we find in so little time, in so little time, in so little time, in so little time.

Open Window 03:14
Footprints, my little minstrel footprints. Oh I leave them everywhere I go. So that when I’m gone you won’t forget my glow. Fingerprints, my little sneaky fingerprints. Oh I’m touching everything you own. So that when I’m gone this can still be my home. Let go. I’ll be your warm wind. And if you let go, I’ll be your tide. And if I do the same, I can be your open window. And as the ground turns white. I’ll come crawling back in. Oh in the green trees. I’ll leave pieces of me. So that when Fall comes, everytime a leaf falls the reds and oranges crunching will be me saying Hello! Did you see my boat? I drew it in the sky, and sent it your way, now all you have to do is get in and come be my castaway. So for now I’ll be the smoke on your lips. The warmth that your hands will miss. Your buds when spring looks hopeless. Oh for now I be your Thursday night. Your sunburn from summer light. You can be my airplane flight. And soon I’ll have to slip away. As April dies and in comes May. But these stonesteps will keep our words safe. Goodbye big dipper, gently carry me away. Let go. Now I’m blowing in a warm breeze. Let go. I’m blowing gently in the tide. Let go. I am my own open window. And as the ground turns white I will play in the snow. When winter comes, we can have another go.

Gloria 03:36
I’m thinking of you. and your curly halo. Snow covers my ground. While your sunbathing in a rowboat. And I’d do anything to make you smile. I’ll make you a ring out of flowers. Just stay by my side my darling. Gloria. I’m thinking of you and our latest adventures. I wish I could find a map to lead me to you, my treasure. And I’d do anything to wake with you. I’ll build you a bridge out of flowers. Just stay by my side my darling. Gloria. Holding hands makes the moon seem much brighter. You look at me and my cheeks are on fire. I miss you even when you are right there. I lied when I said when you're sleeping I don't stare. Gloria.

Storm King 03:54
My first autumn away from home. Since I went away for good. No winter boots. No farms nor fields. No cider, no frozen water wheels. There’s metal things on grassy fields. There’s falling leaves in my hair. No driving to storm king this year. I give instead my Eastern appeal. We lived in the east while the world was asleep. We counted our days till the orange and red leaves. We drove through the plains to a place with no snow. We conquered our dreams and made sure to make more.

Home (here) 06:09
I can’t stop thinkin’ about, Charcoal all over my face. Splinters in my hands. Pine needles in my hair. Kitchen lined with cans. I’ll build my home here. I can’t stop thinkin’ about, Coyote tracks covered up. Broken rope swings. Climb through a hollowed out log. Blowin’ smoke rings. I’ll build my home here. Would you live by the sea with me, he asked as I fell asleep. Would you dance in the moonbeams, he begged as I didn’t speak. Won’t you please just run away with me, to where we won’t see anybody, anybody. And I just stopped by to tell you that I can’t stay like I said I was going to. I regret to tell you that I’m leaving but to where I don’t know yet. I realized I must follow the breeze and the falling autumn leaves. I am tying my shoelaces. Wait! please don’t lock the wooden door, I left all my things on your back porch. I lied all I wanna do is sail a boat around the world with you. The wind stopped blowing when I left your side and forgot what you tasted like. I am, will always be, barefoot. I can’t stop thinkin’ about, I crossed a babbling brook to where you said you’d be I built a dam in the woods by the edge of the creek I’ll build my home here.

Woods 06:38
You smell like moss. I’ll build my nest in your hair. Freshly cut grass is the closest to clothes we will wear. I want your branches all over my skin. I’ll climb down your front down to where your roots begin. And all I wanna do is climb through woods to the ocean with you. Eyes like a feline curled up in the sun. Hands like a wood stove making my dress come undone. The air is much thicker now. Barefoot and bugs on my knees. Let’s build a small house out of sticks and leaves. And all I wanna do is climb through woods to the ocean with you. I’d like to see a time-lapse of a dandelion. I’d like to see a time-lapse of a spring to summer. I’d like to see a time-lapse of our change of heart. And all I wanna do is climb through woods to the ocean with you.

October 07:11
I can’t pretend I’m fine it’s October time. The leaves are changing, changing my mind. The leaves are changing, changing my mind. I think I’ll hide behind my october smile because nothing’s changing, changing my mind. Because nothing’s changing, changing my mind. I think I may have lost this October fight. Because nothing’s changing, changing my mind. Because nothing’s changing, changing my mind. I think I may have lost this October fight. Because nothing’s changing, changing my mind. Because nothing’s changing, changing my mind. I Can’t pretend that I’m fine this time and I won't believe that we're going somewhere, until I see the first day of November.

about

The eleven songs on This New Year find Big Tree expanding on a sound that is “a difficult one to classify, but an easy one to enjoy” (Fensepost). It is infectious pop music splashed with colorful harmonies, driven by pulsing rhythms, unique time signatures, group vocals, and poetic quirky imagery.
